Chair's Message

The new year and the new 2012 Quality Management Division (QMD) leadership team have some challenges to meet in the year ahead. For the 2010-2011 year:

  • QMD earned the prestigious Level III Total Quality Award for the 5th consecutive year. This is the highest level of distinction recognized by ASQ for division performance. Only 9 of the 22 ASQ divisions earned this award.
  • QMD also earned the Gold Excellence Award for the 5th consecutive year. Only 7 divisions attained this level of achievement.
  • An additional award, the Blue Ribbon Award for retention, was also presented to QMD. Only 5 divisions qualified for this new recognition of performance excellence.

QMD continues to be recognized for effective leadership and performance excellence by ASQ; this begins with member satisfaction.

For the new leadership team, there is no time to rest and celebrate our previous accomplishments. Global society has undergone extensive change during the past couple of years. QMD has been successful in meeting our members’ needs and expectations, but the continued success of our operations model required a review. As a result of our member needs analysis, members will notice some new and innovative activities developed by the leadership team.

The bar has been set very high by previous leadership teams, and the 2012 team will strive to continue performance excellence for the benefit of QMD members. Please watch for QMD presence and support of upcoming regional events, continued e-blasts on topics of current interest, and the Quality Management Forum articles which reflect both domestic and international perspectives related to Quality issues.

The QMD is always interested in accepting volunteers who would like to be part of this dynamic leadership team.

Of the many goals QMD has set for 2012, being recognized for performance excellence for another consecutive year is a very high priority!

Call for Papers

The Quality Management Division is working with the Audit Division to bring you an exciting conference venue in 2012! QMD is sponsoring a track at the Audit Division conference to be held Oct. 11-12, 2012, in Augusta, GA. If you have a presentation/paper related to implementing management or leadership techniques that enable an organization to stay competitive, please respond to the Call for Papers.

Each month ten survey respondents will be selected at random to receive one of these QMD sponsored publications.
